Michael Terborg shares with us a couple great apps for sermons in his last installment of Top Christian Apps. I can attest that Michael is not lying when he says he listens to sermons all the time. This guy is addicted to hearing the Word of God preached, may we all be like that!

This is the last Christian app post I will be sharing with you; so I have decided to spoil you. I have a handful of my favorite preachers, Allistar Begg, John Piper, Tim Keller, David Jeremiah, John MacArthur, and James McDonald. Allistar Begg’s app is, Truth For Life. The John Piper app is, Bethlehem Baptist Church. The Tim Keller app is, Redeemer Presbyterian. The David Jeremiah app is, Turning Point. The John MacArthur app is, Grace to You. The James Mcdonald app is, Walk in the Word. All of these apps are really similar to the Bethel app and Mars Hill app that I shared with you a couple of weeks ago. Read the rest of this entry »

Michael Terborg brings his final installment of Wednesday’s Ways to Use the Web. We hope this short series has given you tools and ideas to redeem your time online and helped you grow in your Walk with Christ.

www.theresurgence.com will be my last website for this series, and it is one of my favorites.

The website is run by Mars Hill Church, whose pastor is Mark Driscoll. This website, for the most part, is geared toward leadership. But there are plenty of things you can still learn on this website, even if you don’t consider yourself a leader. Read the rest of this entry »

Top Christian Apps – Part 4

Smart phones and tablets are ubiquitous in today’s society. They offer us the opportunity for more distraction or for more growth in our walks with Christ; it depends how we use them. Today’s post is part 4 of a 5 part series on using your device to further your maturity in Christ.

Today we look at one of the most downloaded apps of all time – The Bible. This app has the now familiar brown Bible logo with the word Holy Bible written on it. Check it out in the App Store or Android Market.

There are so many ways to use this app; I would say that it would be impossible to fully use the app to the max, unless you were to use it all day everyday. On this app there are about 32 different translations, and they are constantly adding new translations and languages. In about half of the translations you can hear the bible be read to you, perfect for long commutes to work. Read the rest of this entry »

Top Christian Apps – Part 2

Posted: January 20, 2012 by Joey Mayfield in Resources

This is the second app in our series on the top Christian apps for your smartphone. Michael Terborg shares why the Mars Hills App is an important tool in his personal growth.

Mark Driscoll is the teaching pastor at Mars Hill Church. Mars Hill is made up of a multiple locations across the Western United States. The Mars Hill app was the first app produced by Subsplash. Subsplash was started by a group of programmers from Mars Hill looking to utilize their gifts to serve the church. Subsplash used what they learned from the Mars Hill app to create The Church App, which is used by thousands of churches nationwide, including Bethel Church.

Currently in my devotions with my wife, Callie, we are studying the book of Genesis. We use the sermon series on Genesis located on the app to supplement our readings. We just finished the story of Cain and Able, and listening to the sermon afterwards was excellent. There are a lot of other sermon series on the app, including, Pray like Jesus, Christ on the Cross, Religion Saves, Doctrine, and The Gospel of Luke. I enjoy listening to the messages as I do yard work.

The app also features worship music from the Mars Hill Worship Team. You can find the Mars Hill blogs and articles right from the app. If you are visiting the Western United States you can use the map feature to find a Mars Hill location near you. This app is a great way to stay connected and up-to-date on all the great ministry of Mars Hill and Mark Driscoll.

Listen anytime and anywhere,

Michael Terborg
